This exciting and interactive workshop is FREE and OPEN to area youth (ages 13 - 19). Come out and sharpen your writing and performance skills. Attendees will be lead through a number of creative writing exercises, as well as cover poetry in the realm of competition. We will explore voice, presentation, and writing. Students will craft poems and be challenged to step outside of their everyday use of language. The Columbus Museum will also serve as lovely backdrop and inspiration for some ekphrastic writing prompts. This workshop will be just what area teens need to get their creative juices flowing!
There will be pizza and refreshments served for those in attendance. Participants MUST RSVP via our website by Tuesday, September 5th @ 5 PM to participate. Participants are asked to bring paper, pencil, and creativity!

This workshop will be facilitated by Tawny Powell. Tawny Powell is an Atlanta poet, nonprofit manager and serious change agent. She's got 2 chapbooks, Long Winter's Baby and Breaking the Barge, is a former Java Monkey Slam Champion, and board member of Diverse Groups. She's basically trying to save the world one poem, one hug, and one conversation at a time. Her favorite poetic form is the contrapuntal because it forces the writer and reader to think outside of their own normal brain-box
